I don't usually blog about restaurants, but I just had to make this exception.

My family has been patronizing Kenny Rogers Roasters at Quezon Avenue near Edsa for years. We usually visit two to three times a week. Bluepoint even held a Christmas party there. One would think that regular customers get treated well. Not!

Last Sunday, we had an early dinner at the said restaurant. They were running a promo: get a free sundae for every 300 pesos food purchase. Our bill was more than 300, so we were entitled to a vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate sundae. We opted for strawberry. The waitress delivered vanilla.

Magie to Waitress:
Miss, strawberry yung in-order namin, hindi vanilla.
Miss, we asked for strawberry, not vanilla.

Waitress to Magie:
Ma'am, free lang naman po yan eh.
Ma'am, this is just a freebie.

Psylocke to Waitress:

Magie to Waitress:
Kahit na, pinapili nyo kami tapos iba rin pala ang ibibigay nyo. Nasa resibo pa o. Strawberry sundae.
Regardless, you asked us for our preferred flavor then you give us something else.
Look, it's even stated in the receipt. Strawberry sundae.

Waitress to Magie:
Kasi po ma'am wala ng strawberry. Titingnan ko po sandali.
Ma'am, we're out of strawberry. I'll check.

Waitress to Manager:
Sir, strawberry daw ang in-order nila.
Sir, they asked for strawberry.

Manager to Waitress:
Sabihin mo wala ng strawberry.
Tell them we're out of strawberry.

Before the waitress could relay her manager's reply, another waitress came and served us a freshly prepared strawberry sundae. So there was strawberry all along!

Since Kenny Rogers Roasters Quezon Avenue was on the way to our office, we had lunch there today. Again, our bill was more than 300 pesos.

Magie to Waiter:
Excuse me, di ba may promo kayong libreng sundae pag 300 pesos and above ang purchase?
Excuse me, you have a promo that entitles us to a free sundae for every 300 pesos purchase, right?

Waiter to Magie:
Ma'am, wala po kaming ice cream ngayon.
Ma'am, we don't have any ice cream today.

We let it go. It was not worth pursuing. Unfortunately, somebody ordered a couple of sundaes a few minutes later.

Waiter to Customer:
You ordered two sundaes sir. Would you like vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate?

So there was ice cream all along. All three flavors!

Paging the owners of Kenny Rogers Roasters Quezon Avenue: Your lying staff is driving away loyal customers!
