Elvin Joseph Sanico was one of the best professors I was privileged to have at the UP National Institute of Physics in Diliman. His use of the continuity equation for steady one-dimensional flow to prove the "silent waters run deep" axiom was really cool!

Wednesday, Dec 13, 2006, 11:45 AMOur quite breakfast at McDonald's Visayas Avenue was interrupted by the loud voice of a very difficult customer. He wanted a Burger McDo to go, even though burgers were not available during breakfast. Instead of setting him straight, the manager condescended and had the burger made to order. Wrong move!
Apparently intoxicated by his small victory, the customer turned his attention next to the counter person (who was obviously unhappy with her manager's decision): "Why aren't you smiling? Would you like me to slap that pout off your face? Want to wake up jobless tomorrow?" The girl was holding back her tears. I was ready to pin the guy to the floor, especially since the manager and the security guard chose to look the other way!
For better or worse, an inner voice told me to let things be. In the end, the power tripping customer walked out with a wide grin on his face. The cheapest McDonald's burger and some ego massage to go. What a deal, what a deal.
